Market Warsop have a had a great first season in women's football and capped it last week by clinching the Nottinghamshire Ladies League title at the first attempt.
Market Warsop Ladies was formed in May/June 2016 by players who had been friends for numerous years and previously played for other local teams around Nottinghamshire and Mansfield area. They wanted to get the enjoyment back into football and play with alongside each other on the same team.
The target for this season was to win the Notts Ladies League and gain promotion into the East Midlands Women's Football League and have a good cup run after entering the Women's FA Cup, Nottinghamshire Women's Cup and the League Cup.
The ladies' biggest scoreline of the season was a win against Retford United Ladies in the Nottinghamshire Women's County Cup, beating them 24-2.
They reached the Second Round Qualifying in the SSE Women's FA Cup after winning 5-1 against AFC Leicester, who play their football in the East Midlands Women's Football League Division 1 South, and then narrowly losing 4-3 to Nettleham from the Premier Division of the same league.
In the league, following a 6-4 opening day victory against Keyworh Utd, they have played 13 games, winning 12 and losing just the one against Clifton Ladies. Every game the ladies played has been an important one and they have scored 91 league goals and conceded just 14. In all competitions, they have scored 133 goals scored and conceded 28.
Market Warsop also have the League Cup Final on Wednesday 10th May against Retford Utd to look forward to, hoping to do the double for their first season together.
