Bristol City Head coach Willie Kirk has agreed a new contract with the club ahead of the Spring Series. Kirk joined City Women in July 2015 and helped the club back to WSL 1 at the first time of asking last season. Previously, Kirk had been working at the Scottish Football association as High Performance Manager after spending five years with Hibernian but now signs a deal to see him remain in charge of the Vixens until at least the end of the 2017-18 season. "It was an easy decision for me to sign in order to bring stability to the club, especially to the playing squad and my staff," said Kirk. "When I signed previously it was until the conclusion of the Spring Series, but I see it as a long term project and I want to see it through. "The plan is to use the Spring Series as a platform to fine tune everything before the winter season. I have a squad of young players here who are not proven at WSL 1 level, it is my responsibility to give them the tools in order to do that. "When I first arrived we were in WSL 1, but I didn't get a proper crack at it. It was an inherited squad, but it is a lot different this time. "It's my squad and I want to put my stamp on it, the prospect of myself and my squad being tested on weekly basis is hugely exciting. The club is moving forwards on and off the pitch with some key appointments recently and I can't wait to get started against Reading."
