Their record in the league this season has been very impressive and completed their campaign with an unbeaten record and are seven points ahead of their nearest rivals, Pen Mill. They have also reached the semi finals of the League Cup, where they will play Wembdon this week.
"We have had sixteen difference goalscorers, scoring 102 goals between them," secretary Vic Wright told Women's Soccer Scene. "Our top goalscorer for the season is Shannon Holloway, who is a Northern Ireland Under-19 international, with 35 goals from 18 appearances, followed by Ruby Lowe who has scored 18 times in 16 matches.
"In the middle part of the season, we had a spell where we won six games on the trot without conceding a goal, but scoring 48 in that period. Two different goalkeepers were used during the season, number one being Jo Dulieu with Vic Wright deputising in her occasional absence.
"We would find that if we scored early in a game, we would usually go on and win it comfortably, however often we played against very defensive sides looking to keep the scores down and we found it hard to break them down.
"The most competitive matches we have had this season were against Pen Mill, who are probable runners-up in the league, winning 2-0 at home and held to a dogged 0-0 draw away in a game of few chances and goalkeepers and defenders having the upper hand."
Portishead are managed by Chip Wright who has been in charge for three seasons, supported by secretary Vic Wright and captain Jodie Long.
The players vote each week for the Robert John Hairdressers Player of the Match, 14 different players have received the award with 18-year-old central midfielder Kierra Greenslade picking it up the most, winning it for four different games.
‘Posset' have also been complimented many times on their after match hospitality on many occasions!
