Everton are just one point away from winning the FA WSL 2 Spring Series after they defeated Watford 4-0 at Goodison Park, to open up a three point lead at the top of the table.
The Toffees took the lead midway through the first half via a looping header from Georgia Brougham following a corner. Four minutes into the second half, they doubled their advantage when Aileen Whelan, on as a half time substitute, scored her first goal for the club with a strike from the edge of the area and Olivia Chance made it three, before Simone Magill rounded off the scoring in injury time.
Everton play their final match away to London Bees on Saturday and a point would confirm them as Spring Series Champions, although their goal difference is nine better than second placed Durham Women and may already be enough.
Doncaster Rovers Belles moved up into third place, their highest position of the Series, following their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Kirsty Hanson gave the Belles the lead just after the twenty minute mark with a shot from just inside the area and she turned provider for the second, her cross being turned in by leading scorer Courtney Sweetman-Kirk. Villa came out strongly after the break and pressed for a way back into the game and although Maddy Cusack reduced the arrears with twelve minutes remaining, Donny saw the game out to keep themselves in with a chance of a top two finish.
