Paige starts new chapter at Yeovil
 Women's Football WSL1 News - 3 Aug 2017
WSL1 News - Paige starts new chapter at Yeovil - 3 Aug 2017 - Women's Football NewsYeovil Town Ladies FC can confirm that 18-year-old forward player Paige Sawyer has joined the green and whites from Bristol City.
Sawyer, despite being a Bristol player for many years, has not featured in nearly as many FA WSL matches as her ability deserves and following her release from the Vixens last week, has signed a one year deal, which will see her grace FA Women's Super League One top flight football at Yeovil Town Ladies FC.
In 2016, Sawyer was selected for the England Colleges National Squad, which then also lead to her being selected in Mo Marley's U18/19 England Development Camp, making 12 first team appearances for Bristol City along the way.
On joining Yeovil, Sawyer said: "After speaking with Jamie on the ethos and passion of this club, I believe that it will help me develop as a player and achieve both my own and the clubs ambitions.
"I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my football career and look forward to the challenges ahead for the new season in a green and white shirt."
Manager Jamie Sherwood added: "Paige is a player I have known for a number of years. She was actually Katie's [Wife of Jamie Sherwood] first mascot when she played for Bristol.
"Paige has an opportunity to further her development with us. She has had an excellent education and she brings with her a fresh desire, energy and willingness to the goal we will set out for her as an individual and us as a group.
"When we sat down and first spoke about the possibility of her becoming a green and white, what impressed me most was she had three targets already set for her season ahead.
"She is part of a new fresh energy we are looking to harness ahead of the upcoming winter season and I am looking forward to seeing her further her development with us."
Having toured the county during the recent Spring Series, Yeovil action will return to Huish Park from September with the FA Women's Super League season now aligned to the traditional winter football calendar.
Despite entering a maiden season in Super League One, Huish Park will become the fourth largest regularly used home ground in the FA WSL, with only two other EFL or Premier League clubs sharing the first team pitch with their female colleagues.
Manager Sherwood was delighted to see his side back where they belong, saying: "Huish Park is a special place and one where we have had much success of recent times.
"The support which we have had whilst playing in front of the home crowd here, has undoubtably helped us, as we really do play for our fans.
"We hope to do everyone in Yeovil, Somerset and the surrounding area proud and by bringing top flight football to Huish Park, we hope that we can see excellent support towards the club."
