The Reserve Section League Cup opened up for another season with the First Round matches on Sunday and Blackburn Rovers, last season's runners-up, safely progressed with a 3-0 win away to Guiseley Vixens thanks to Ellie Doggett, Hannah Walsh and an own goal. Siobhan Jones (2), Christina Deverdics and Stephanie Loraine were on the scoresheet for Newcastle Utd in their 4-2 victory over Bradford City and Huddersfield Town won 4-0 at Hull City, Beth Allen netting a brace along with Amy Broomhead and Kathryn Halligan. Shellby Wolstencroft scored a hat-trick in Bolton Wanderers' 7-1 success at Brighouse Town, Millie Critchley adding two with Rachel Owen and an own goal completing the scoring. Middlesbrough meanwhile defeated Sheffield Utd 7-2, led by a five-goal haul from Abbey Loughran with Harriet Dryden adding the other two. Stoke City maintained their good start by beating TNS Ladies 6-0 with goals from Emily Curteis (2), Sophie Taylor, Lucy Ridgway, Molly Bruton and Jasmin Limb, and Dery County were 6-1 winners over Sporting Khalsa, Danielle Oxley netting twice along with Amber-Leigh Denny, Georgia Lawton, Hannah Naqwi and Kira Rai. Shannon Roche, Natalya Pulver and an own goal saw West Bromwich Albion to a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and Tiana Hicks bagged a brace, while Elizabeth Mulvaney and Simran Singh were also on the scoresheet for Loughborough Foxes as they beat Long Eaton Utd 6-1. Leicester City Women went one better, winning 7-1 against Burton Albion, thanks to Kim Farrow and Mai Moncaster hat-tricks, with Gracie-Mai Williams adding the other. Daisy Evan-Watkins (2), Sophie Thomas and Evan Taylor all scored for Cardiff City Ladies in their 4-4 draw with Coventry Utd, whose markswomen were Jade Mellor, Lauren Garner, Rachel Mason and Katie Cornish. Denham Utd defeated Milton Keynes Dons on a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw, meanwhile West Ham Utd won against Lewes on spot kicks after the teams had shared eight goals. Afiya Johnson and Emma-Jane May scored the goals as Portsmouth beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0 and C & K Basildon were also 2-0 winners away to Queen's Park Rangers thanks to Paige Bradley and Jodie Osborne.
