We fear no-one - Karen
 Women's Football WSL1 News - 8 Nov 2017

WSL1 News - We fear no-one - Karen - 8 Nov 2017 - Women's Football NewsKaren Carney insists Chelsea do not fear any opponent they come up against and can go all the way in the Champions League.

The England winger joined the London side in 2015 from her hometown club Birmingham and is loving life with the FA WSL Spring Series champions. Chelsea won the FA WSL 1 title two years ago, their only top flight crown, before Manchester City claimed the honour in 2016.

However, Chelsea, under Emma Hayes, are a formidable outfit as their 6-0 demolition of Yeovil last weekend showed and 30-year-old Carney is confident the team can win any match regardless of opposition, such is the quality of their squad.

"Moving to Chelsea has been the best decision I've ever made, I love going in there every single day," said Carney, who has 31 goals in 134 appearances for England. "We've got such a big squad and such a competitive squad, it's really interesting to see how that will pan out.

"It's definitely exciting and the players I get to train with every single day make it like an international match just in training - that in itself is a challenge that I really enjoy.

"The Champions League is a competition where Chelsea definitely want to strive to achieve and you get tough competition.

"We played extremely well against Bayern Munich and got the result we wanted and we've got a tough draw against Rosengard [on November 8th & 15th].

"We've got to be confident going into that, but we've got some of the best players in Europe and in the world in our team.

"We shouldn't really fear anyone, when it's our day and we get it right we're exciting.

"It is a big thing for Chelsea, we want to be up there and competing with the top teams for it and I think we should with the squad we've got."

One of the main reasons for Chelsea's success in recent times, according to Carney, is manager Hayes. The winger believes Hayes' straight-shooting attitude and attention to detail has brought out the best in the Chelsea players since she took the reins in 2012.

"This is the third time I've worked with Emma Hayes and every time I've thoroughly enjoyed it, she brings the best out in me," said Carney, who scored twice in Chelsea's 6-0 demolition of Yeovil on Sunday.

"It's nice to work with a female because us women are quite difficult at times and she gets it. She trains all her staff in that aspect to think differently, that we're not male athletes and we are different.

"Credit to her and her staff, they get it spot on. She's brutal, she's very honest, sometimes too honest.

"She says things you don't want to hear, but they're things you need to hear. I respect her and what she's done so sometimes you have to take it on the chin.

"I enjoy how Emma works because she considers everything from our bodies, to our mental health, to how we feel physically."

England face Bosnia & Herzegovina in a FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier at Walsall FC on 24th November. Buy tickets (£10 Adult/£1 Under-18) at www.thefa.com/tickets.
