Leicester City Women have moved back into second place in the Northern Division after running out 4-1 winners away to West Bromwich Albion.
Rosie Axten netted a first half brace for Leicester and Olivia Mitcham was also on target before the break. Although Leah Seivwright revived hopes for the home side by pulling a goal back just after the hour, Shauna Cossens made the points safe by scoring the final goal.
Recent wins over the likes of Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers had taken Huddersfield Town into the top two but their good run was brought to a halt as they crashed 3-0 at home to Derby County. Nicole Ledgister gave Derby a first half lead before goals after the break from Leanne De Silva and Andi Bell crowned the win and ensured they kept up their improving form, climbing up to sixth place in the process.
Bradford City meanwhile lifted themselves out of the bottom three with an important 3-0 victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Bantams led at half time through a goal from Hannah Campbell, with Hannah Smith and Arianne Parnham also getting on the scoresheet during the second half.
One other game took place on Sunday, but the meeting between Guiseley Vixens and Nottingham Forest was forced to be abandoned with the scoreline goalless after eighteen minutes when Forest's Samantha Conroy sustained a neck injury which, thankfully, has turned out not to be too serious. We hope she is back playing very soon.
