Saffron makes Wanderers happy
 Women's Football WPL Division 1 North News - 7 Dec 2017
Northern Division One
One match went ahead in the division on Sunday and it saw Bolton Wanderers come away from Leeds Utd with a 1-0 win under their belts. Saffron Newhouse scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute to give Bolton a result which takes them up to fifth place in the table.
Midlands Division One
Sheffield Utd inflicted only a second league defeat of the season on Burton Albion and moved to within two points of them in fourth place after beating them 5-1. Taria Marsden led the scoring for United with a hat-trick and there was one apiece from Jennifer Pearson and Evie Robinson.
Solihull Moors stay level on points with Sheffield Utd following their 4-1 victory away to Leicester City Ladies. Natalie Courtney netted a goal in each half and she was joined on the scoresheet by Victoria Grieve and Abbie Taylor, with the home side's consolation coming from Gemma Ball.
Steel City Wanderers pulled a further three points away from Birmingham & West Midlands Ladies after they edged them out by the odd goal in five. Lucy Ridley bagged a brace and Cheryl Mawhood the other for the Steels, with the visitors replying through Natalie Dean and Charlotte Fisher.
South East Division One
In the solitary match to be played over the weekend, Denham Utd moved out of the bottom three after sharing a 2-2 draw with Norwich City. Natasha Snelling scored both goals for the Canaries, bringing an end to their eight match losing run in the league, while Denham replied with strikes from Sophie Cheadle and Alissa Down.
South West Division One
Maidenhead Utd climbed into the top half of the table after they defeated St Nicholas 5-2. Zoe Clifford netted two of the goals for the Berkshire side along with Clare Rogers, Hannah Summers and an own goal, while the visitors replied through Sophie Sweet and also an own goal.
