Liverpool Marshalls Feds manager Fran Alonso is looking forward to the opportunity of taking on Northern Division high fliers Middlesbrough in the Third Round of the SSE Women's FA Cup.
The Northern Division One side will make the long trip north east in the first week of January and Fran told Women's Soccer Scene: "The FA Cup is a competition that we love, therefore we would like to stay in the competition and see how far we can go.
"We are going to face a team that is top of the league in the division above, on paper they are the clear favourites to get to the next round. They have quality and pace at front and they have a clear playing style that make them even more dangerous.
"It won't be the first time that we play against a team from the division above, we have played Wolves away in the League Cup this season, and we played superbly that game and got a 2-0 win. So we know Boro are the favourites but we also know we can beat any team in the FAWPL if we play at our best.
"We won every game we played in November and in December in all competitions, so the mental strength of the team couldn't be higher at this moment. We all look forward to testing ourselves against one of the best teams in the country away from the WSL. We will have all players available for the game."
Captain Chantelle Thompson said: "Every time we have played Middlesbrough in the past, it's always been an exciting game with both teams looking to play football. As a group we love being the underdogs and relish the challenge of taking on a top team like ‘Boro."
