Manchester City and Arsenal - the only two teams to have won the trophy - will contest the Continental Tyres Cup Final after both sides produced away victories in their respective semi finals.
City, the current holders, made the trip to Chelsea in a clash between the top two in the WSL 1 table and it was Chelsea who nearly went ahead when Fran Kirby's shot was cleared off the line by Steph Houghton. Moments later, City went on the attack themselves and Nadia Nadim gave the lead with a close range finish from Jill Scott's cross.
Nikita Parris almost added a second on the stroke of half time but in the second half, Karen Bardsley kept her team in front with a great save from Hannah Blundell and Millie Bright was unable to convert a late chance as City held on to win 1-0.
Arsenal meanwhile were playing away to Reading FC Women who were playing at this stage for the first time and had won the previous meeting between the clubs in the group stages. The Gunners opened the scoring through Beth Mead with five minutes on the clock but Reading hit back instantly, Brooke Chaplen levelling the scores just two minutes later. Both teams had chances but were finding the two goalkeepers in fine firm until midway through the second half, when Lauren Bruton fired home from the edge of the area to put Reading ahead for the first time. This time it was Arsenal who responded quickly with Vivianne Miedema equalising once again and with eight minutes remaining, Jordan Nobbs struck to earn the Gunners a 3-2 victory and set up a repeat of the 2014 Final.
