Cardiff Met Ladies have opened up a lead of eight points at the top of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League after they defeated Llandudno Ladies 3-0.
Three matches were scheduled to take place in the league on Sunday and two of them did go ahead, Met taking the lead midway through the first half through a Stacey Ayling penalty. Kitty Wells made it two just after the hour mark and Steph Turner ended any further resistance from Llandudno when she netted the third with a firm strike.
The other action in the league saw Rhyl Ladies pick up three important points when beating Port Talbot Town 2-1. The visitors were playing their first match under Hayley Williams since her permanent appointment as manager last week but it was Rhyl who took the lead through Paige Williams with eleven minutes on the clock. Vicky Stratton brought Port Talbot back on terms on the half hour and this looked to be enough to earn her side a point until injury time, when Ashleigh Mills struck to give Rhyl their first home league victory of the season.
