Rhyl Ladies became the first team to take points off Cardiff Met Ladies in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League this season when battling out a 2-2 draw with them on Sunday, and it could have been even better for the North Wales side.
Met went into the game as runaway leaders and having won their previous twelve league matches so far this season but after a goalless first half, Laura Williams and Rebecca Bannister both struck to put the Lilywhites two goals ahead early in the second half. Chloe Tilley pulled one back for Met with fifteen minutes remaining and as the game went into injury time, Erin Murray scored to preserve Met's unbeaten record and salvage a point for her side.
Swansea City meanwhile moved back into second place at the expense of Cyncoed Ladies after beating them 3-0. Cyncoed went into the game in excellent form, which had taken them into their highest ever league position, but it was the Swans who took the lead on the half hour through Katy Hosford. Kirstie O'Donnell and Stacey John-Davies both added late goals to put the seal on an important win for Swansea and put themselves back in the driving seat for second spot.
