FC Kilmarnock remain the early pacesetters in SWPL 2 after a 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
The teams were separated by two division last season but a Claire Docherty goal keeps Kilmarnock three points ahead at the top.
Motherwell are up into second place following their 3-1 victory against Central Girls Academy. An own goal gave Central Girls an early lead but a Hayley Cunningham penalty levelled matters soon afterwards, before Kerry Montgomery and Suzanne Mulvey secured the points with further strikes.
Hearts had started the day in second but went down to a 3-1 defeat to St Johnstone, who move above them and into the top three. Jennifer Smith did give Hearts the lead but St Johnstone hit back and goals from Laura Dunn, Hannah Clark and Eilidh McIntyre wrapped up their second league win in succession.
Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale meanwhile recorded their first victory of the season in style, running out 5-1 winners over Glasgow Girls who are still seeking their first points. Yesemin Emek was on target twice for EUHV along with Beth MacLeod, Anna Hume and Nichola Sturrock, with Samantha McPherson grabbing a consolation for Glasgow.
