Manchester City have opened up an eight point lead at the top of the FA WSL Development League Northern Division after running out 4-0 winners over Liverpool on Sunday. Earlier in the week, the Reds had narrowed the gap on City and lifted themselves into a second place with a 3-1 success away to Aston Villa. All of the goals came during the first half with Missy Bo Kearns, Simran Jhamat and Annabel Blanchard all on target for Liverpool, while Villa's consolation came from Natasha Baptiste.
One match also beat the weather in the Southern Division, where Millwall Lionesses defeated Oxford Utd 3-1 to go level on points with leaders Arsenal. Freya Bailes, Katie Gilligan and Ella Rutherford all scored a goal apiece for Millwall. On Thursday night, Arsenal restored their three point advantage at the top of the table when they won 2-0 away to Watford, who remain in fourth place.
