FA WSL 1 leaders Chelsea needed their full powers of recovery as they salvaged a point from a 2-2 draw against Reading FC Women.
The Royals had been one of the teams to take points off the table toppers when they drew earlier in the season and they took the lead midway through the first half when Brooke Chaplen scored from the penalty spot. Fara Williams made it two early in the second half but Chelsea's response was swift, Jonna Andersson pulling one back four minutes later. Fran Kirby had been the creator of that goal and with twelve minutes left, she earned her side a point against her former club when running on to Erin Cuthbert's pass and slotting home.
Birmingham City continue to go from strength to strength and have moved to within two points of Liverpool after beating them 4-0. Rachel Williams fired home a powerful shot from the edge of the area to give the Blues a twelfth minute lead which was doubled shortly afterwards via an own goal, before Jess Carter added a third just after the half hour. Ellen White maintained her recent good form by rounding off the scoring with eight minutes remaining.
