![]() Uni won the overall Varsity all sports fixtures for the sixth year running, but it was in women's football where they recorded their best ever results against Hallam. The 2nds fixture ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Hallam, Emily Brett with a fine first half strike several minutes after Hallam had been rescued by the woodwork. The 1sts encounter was the penultimate fixture of this year's Varsity and Uni of, who had lost all previous clashes, produced a hard working team display to record a 2-0 victory. The best Uni had enjoyed in previous 2nds encounters was a 2-2 draw around ten years ago. Uni of were already assured of this year's Varsity title before the women engaged in battle at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium with the game played under a variety of changing weather conditions - brilliant sunshine, heavy showers and dark clouds were all witnessed during proceedings. Carly Jackson fired Uni of into an interval lead and this was doubled midway through the second half via a Doncaster Rovers Belles combination when Izzy Whittle headed home from a right wing centre by Maz Pacheco.
