Hibernian will meet Celtic in this year's Premier League Cup Final after the two sides emerged triumphant from the double header of semi finals played at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday.
The first tie saw holders Hibernian up against Champions Glasgow City in an eagerly anticipated tie, the two teams having shared a 2-2 draw in the league two weeks ago.
There was early drama when a City penalty was saved by Hannah Reid and Abi Harrison gave Hibs the lead shortly afterwards, and the striker netted her second goal on the half hour. Early in the second half, Harrison completed her hat-trick when she headed in from a deep cross by Lizzie Arnot. City pulled one back through a powerful strike from Samantha Kerr but despite late City pressure, they could not force another breakthrough and Hibernian are just one step away from winning the trophy for a third successive season.
Standing in their way will be Celtic, who set up a repeat of last year's Final by running out 4-1 winners over Forfar Farmington.
Celtic got off to the perfect start when Nicole Pullar gave them the lead after three minutes but Forfar weathered the storm and got themselves back on level terms shortly before half time. After being awarded a penalty, Danni McGinley's initial kick was saved by Kiera Gibson but after a scramble, Nicola Davidson fired home for the equaliser. Midway through the second half, Rachel Donaldson put Celtic back in front and ten minutes later, Cheryl McCulloch added a third. Joesphine Giard put the result beyond doubt when she completed the scoring with five minutes remaining.
The Final between Hibernian and Celtic will take place on Sunday 20th May, again at Falkirk Stadium (2pm).
