Keynsham hit Poole for six
 Women's Football WPL Division 1 South West News - 4 May 2018

Poole Town 1 Keynsham Town 6
Keynsham Town continued their prolific late season form by notching a 6-1 away win at Poole Town.

After falling behind. Keynsham responded with four quickfire goals before the break and dominated the second half, adding two further strikes from sub Cristina Vega Leandro as well going close several times in a dominant display.

Poole started well with Emma Samways being denied when sent clear by Jemma Tewkesbury on 12 minutes. The same two players combined on 25 minutes with Tewkesbury capitalising on defensive hesitation to convert a Samways through ball.

Keynsham responded immediately as Justine Lorton helped on a corner for Kerry Bartlett to turn home. Lorton set up Bartlett again with a precise header across the area for a close range finish two minutes later.

The turnaround was completed just after the half hour with a superb solo effort from Lorton. Moving infield from the left, the experienced attacker drifted past two defenders before hammering a shot wide of Sam Chrippes in the Poole goal.

Poole had some good possession and one fine move Maisy Smith and Siena White set up Tewkesbury, but Rachel Cullen stepped in with an excellent last ditch tackle. Within seconds, Michelle Munro had added a fourth for Keynsham when given a free run on the right side of goal to complete a disappointing twenty minutes for the hosts.

Keynsham introduced Vega Leandro for the second half and she had an early sight of goal but Chrippes saved well. Chances continued to come for the visitors as they moved the ball impressively. However, Poole stood firm for much of the second period and tried to get back into the match.

The good work of Samways earned Poole two corners and from the second Tewkesbury headed wide at the near post. Keynsham added a fifth when Ellie Curson set up Vega Leandro for a neat chipped finish on 76 minutes and the same player converted a spot kick two minutes later to complete the scoring.

Curson nearly added a seventh with a lovely run through the middle and shot just over as Keynsham finished the contest in style.

Poole have had a fine debut season in the FAWPL and were awarded Dorset FA's Club of the Season on Friday, but were second best to an impressive visiting team on the day.
