Keynsham Town have strengthened their squad considerably during the summer and gave a baptism of fire to newcomers Buckland Athletic as eight second half goals carried them to a 9-0 victory.
Kerry Bartlett led the scoring as she bagged a five-goal haul and Justine Lorton contributed a hat-trick, with Corinne Yorston also getting on the scoresheet.
Southampton Women, runners-up last season, have started strongly again by beating Poole Town 8-1. Roxanne Lee-Stewart and Jane Yeates each netted twice and there was one apiece from Cassie Thorp, Lavinia Nkomo and Kia Anteney with an own goal completing the tally, whilst Poole's consolation came from Hollie Agombar.
On a tough day for the newcomers, Chesham Utd's return to the league resulted in a 4-0 reverse away to Larkhall Athletic. Katy-May O'Hara-Nash bagged a hat-trick for the Larks, whose other goal came from Mel Sartain.
The most astonishing match of the day, probably in the whole league, was at Brislington where visitors Cheltenham Town came from behind to win 7-4. Annie Martin had a great day in front of goal for Cheltenham as she netted four times along with Ella Hitchcox, Sophie Wyatt and Ellie Briscoe, whilst Kim Maggs, Paige Sawyer, Sophie Whelan and Abbie Kirby all scored for Brislington.
Two early goals saw Southampton Saints return from Swindon Town with a 2-1 victory under their belts. Catherine Browning netted both goals for Saints inside the opening sixteen minutes, with the home side replying through Polly New.
