Leeds Utd are the opening day leaders in Northern Division One after they won 4-0 against Crewe Alexandra.
Abby Parkin was on target twice for Leeds and she was joined on the scoresheet by Hannah Campbell and Rebecca Hunt.
Chester-le-Street Town made it a disappointing first day in the league for Burnley FC Women as they beat the newly promoted side 3-0. Each of the Cestrians' goals came in a seven minute spell before half time, Rachel Mellor giving them the lead before they added further goals through Kacie Elson and Nichole Havery.
Two of last season's main contenders in the title race met each other in their opening fixture and it was Liverpool Feds who were 2-0 winners over Brighouse Town. Rosie Kinvig put the Feds in front just after the quarter hour and they sealed the points early in the second half thanks to Lynsey Longhurst.
The game of the day in the division was at Chorley where the home side won 5-4 against newly promoted Norton & Stockton Ancients. Scarlett Smith and Rebecca Kemp both bagged braces for the Lancashire side with Rachel Wood adding the other, whilst Norton's goals came via a Bianca Owens double, Sian Williams and Nyci Thorns.
Bolton Wanderers have strengthened their squad during the summer with a number of new arrivals and opened up with a narrow 2-1 victory over Newcastle Utd. Ruby Howard gave Bolton a first half lead and Kelly Halligan added a second after the break, with Steph Ord replying.
