Due to the reshuffling of the top leagues during the summer, Loughborough Foxes have found themselves in the Southern Premier Division this season but they are already looking at home after running out 7-0 winners over Queen's Park Rangers in their opening game.
Rebecca McGrother and Charlotte Cooper both bagged doubles for the Foxes whilst Shauna Chambers and Kate Lowder were also on target, with an own goal completing the tally.
Portsmouth meanwhile recorded a fine 6-0 victory away to C & K Basildon. Daisy McLachlan led the scoring for Pompey with a hat-trick, Hannah Geer weighed in with a brace and Shannon Albuery was also on target.
Of the five former FA WSL teams now playing in the league, Watford were the only ones to register a victory in their opening match on Sunday. Helen Ward hit a hat-trick as the Golden Girls won 5-2 against Cardiff City Ladies, with Andrea Cand Cao adding the other two. Kylie Noland netted both goals in reply for Cardiff.
The two newly promoted teams met each other and in a thrilling match, Plymouth Argyle edged out Milton Keynes Dons by the odd goal in seven at Stadium mk. Argyle raced into a three-goal lead during the first half thanks to a Natasha Knapman hat-trick but Kim Farrow and Zoe Boote replied as the home side reduced the gap to one by half time. The comeback was completed on the hour when Kim Farrow levelled the scores but Plymouth were not finished and Knapman scored a fourth midway through the second half and they held on for a hard earned victory.
Chichester City withstood a late fightback to notch up a 2-1 win over Oxford Utd. Sara Tubby and Molly Clark both scored for Chichester, with Oxford's consolation coming from Ellie Noble (see match report).
The spoils were shared in the other match, Gillingham and Coventry Utd battling out a goalless draw which sees both teams get off the mark for the season.
