Chester-le-Street Town continued their good start to the season and their 3-1 victory over Barnsley sees them two points ahead at the top of the early table.
Nichole Havery and Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke ensured that the Cestrians were two ahead at half time and although Annie Ward reduced the arrears for Barnsley with eight minutes remaining, Amy Kelly scored a third to seal the points for Chester-le-Street.
Burnley FC Women got themselves off the mark when holding Leeds Utd to a 1-1 draw. Sarah Greenhalgh was on target for Burnley, with Leeds replying through Hannah Campbell.
Norton & Stockton Ancients recorded their first victory, a 4-2 success against Liverpool Feds. Rosie Kinvig and Jennifer Rogers both scored to give the Feds a 2-1 half time lead but in the final ten minutes, Bianca Owens netted her second goal to bring Norton back on level terms and two late strikes from Nyci Thorns wrapped up the win.
Newcastle Utd came away from Crewe Alexandra with a 3-1 victory under their belts. Nicole Dack, Jess Foster and Megan McKenzie were all on target for Newcastle, with Crewe's consolation coming from Beth Grice.
Brighouse Town also recorded their first victory of the season, 3-0 against Morecambe. Charlotte Proud netted a first half brace to put Brighouse two ahead at the interval and Stacey Buxton added the third on the hour.
