Sheffield Utd recorded the biggest win of the opening day in Northern Division One when they beat Newcastle Utd 6-2. Carra Jones and an own goal meant that Blackburn Rovers won 2-1 away to Huddersfield Town, who replied through Robyn Hartley, and Hull City defeated Middlesbrough 2-1 thanks to an Amy Blinkhorn double.
In Northern Division Two, Michelle Ryan hit a hat-trick, with Natasha Webster and Holly Styles adding the others, as Chorley ran out 5-1 winners at Leeds Utd. Guiseley Vixens won 2-1 away to Fylde Ladies, Elanna Prothero and Milly Ash scoring their goals, whilst Burnley FC Women and Barnsley shared a 5-5 draw. Rachel Owen hit a hat-trick for Burnley along with Georgia Payton and Simone Keating, while Barnsley replied through a Lauryn Wilcock treble, Emily Hodson and Amy Nowell.
Fiona Worts led the scoring as Leicester City Women opened up in the Midland Division with a 13-0 victory against Burton Albion. Shannon Henson and Natasha Hudson netted two apiece, with the tally being completed by Jade Benford, Imogen Hunt, Annie Taylor, Freya Thomas and Rhea Bailey. Sophie Roberts had a great day in front of goal, bagging herself a five-goal haul as Coventry Utd defeated Sporting Khalsa 8-0, whilst Lauren Garner weighed in with a hat-trick. Stoke City began their defence of the title by beating Long Eaton Utd 5-1 thanks to Roisin Kivel (2), Jodie Foxhall (2) and Kerri Brown. Loughborough Foxes were 4-0 winners over West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest won 3-1 at Crewe Alexandra, Georgia Gladwin netting twice along with Beth Tyson.
Charlton Athletic are the opening day leaders in the South/South East Division following their 5-1 success at Watford. Shamoy Campbell hit a hat-trick with April Bowers and Melanie Parreno Espinosa also getting on the scoresheet. Anne Meiwald, Therese Addison and Ronnell Humes gave Tottenham Hotspur a 3-0 victory over Millwall Lionesses. Milton Keynes Dons returned from Norwich City with a 3-1 win, courtesy of a goal each from Amy Gooderham, Larissa Mellor and Emily Holmes.
In the South/South West Division, Queen's Park Rangers made a successful trip to Dorset as they won 8-0 against Poole Town. Katie Knell was on target four times and Hollie Hogan hit a hat-trick, with Natalie Skiverton adding the other goal. Lewes were 3-1 victors at Southampton Women and AFC Wimbledon beat Denham Utd 3-2 thanks to Amy Lake (2) and Kelly Poynton. Rebecca Bell netted twice and Lucy Cook the other as Chichester City shared a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, for whom Charmaine True scored a hat-trick.
