Albion lead after goal spree
 Women's Football WNL Division 1 Midlands News - 19 Sep 2018
After taking over the leadership in midweek, West Bromwich Albion kept themselves three points ahead with a huge victory away to Steel City Wanderers.
Harriet James led the scoring with a four-goal haul, Laura Davies and Reia Henry each netted hat-tricks, whilst Abby Bevan (2), Natalie Murray (2), Hannah George, Lauren Price and Gabriella Reid also got on the scoresheet.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are three points behind in second, with a game in hand, following their 4-1 win at Burton Albion. Anna Morphet's early goal for Wolves was cancelled out by Jamie Leigh Fowler but Mai Butler restored their lead by half time and they went on to seal the points with second half strikes from Lowri Walker and Jade Cross.
The two newly promoted teams met each other and it was Bedworth Utd who recorded a fourth straight win when edging out Nettleham by the odd goal in five. Jessica Lundie netted twice and Kirsty Farnsworth the other for Bedworth, whilst the home side replied through Tia Johnson and Abigail Ringrose.
Donna Arrowsmith and Beth Woolley accounted for the goals as Sporting Khalsa notched up their second win in three matches, a 2-0 success away to Solihull Moors.
Birmingham & West Midlands Ladies continue to improve and are just below mid-table after beating The New Saints 4-1. Charlotte Fisher, Emily Painter, Giorgia Bracelli and Amy Eastwood were all on target, with Laura Pennington replying.
