Chorley are setting the pace at the top after following up a win in midweek by beating Crewe Alexandra 3-1.
Chloe Wild netted twice and Scarlett Smith the other as Chorley made it four wins on the trot and opened up a lead of two points, whilst Crewe's consolation came from Michelle Saunders.
Burnley FC Women have also had a good week and their 2-1 victory over Norton & Stockton Ancients has taken them into second place. Lean Embley and Evie Priestley were both on target as Burnley netted both of their goals inside the opening thirteen minutes, while Shannon Reed replied for Norton.
Chester-le-Street Town got back to form with a fine 2-0 success at Brighouse Town, which lifts them up to third. Nichole Havery scored both goals for the Cestrians during the second half.
Steph Ord led the scoring with a hat-trick as Newcastle Utd leapt into the top four on the back of a 5-1 win against Morecambe. Abbey Joice and Rebecca Olley added the others, with Rachel Warren on target for the Lancashire side.
Bolton Wanderers follow on after they defeated Leeds Utd 4-0. Kelly Halligan (2), Rosie Havelin and Katy Morris accounted for the goals as Bolton inflicted a first defeat of the season on their opponents.
Barnsley broke their duck in a thrilling game, pipping Liverpool Feds by the odd goal in nine. Melissa Woodhouse amd Amy Woodruff each netted twice for Barnsley along with Kathryn Smith, whilst Laura Bartrup (2), Caroline Charlton and Amy Seagraves replied for the Feds.
