Sunderland stretched their winning run to five matches and have taken over at the top of the Northern Premier Division after winning 3-1 away to Sheffield FC.
Katie Barker gave Sunderland the lead midway through the first half, with Millie Herbert-Clarke equalising for the home side six minutes before half time. After the break, Keira Ramshaw restored Sunderland's advantage within two minutes and Ramshaw went on to seal another win for the Wearsiders with her second, midway through the second half, and take her team above Stoke City who did not play.
Huddersfield Town hoisted themselves back amongst the leading sides by scoring eight times without reply away to Bradford City. Katie Nutter and Brittany Sanderson each netted twice and they were joined on the scoresheet by Sarah Danby, Kate Mallin, Anna Davis and an own goal.
Derby County are one of three teams in the division who are still unbeaten and they kept themselves in touch with the early leaders by beating Doncaster Rovers Belles 4-2. Izzy Whittle gave the Belles an excellent start by firing in a 25-yard shot to give them an early lead but Derby hit back strongly, Jodie Redgrave netting a quickfire double and Cara Newton putting them further ahead by half time. Nadia Khan gave Doncaster renewed hope when she pulled one back after the break, before Stephanie Smith eased any Derby fears and made the game safe by scoring the fourth with fifteen minutes remaining.
Hull City have adjusted to life in a higher level and they are in mid-table after recording their second win in successive matches, 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest thanks to a solitary goal from Hope Knight.
