Glasgow City stay on top of SBSSWPL 1 on goal difference as they survived a scare to win 3-2 against Celtic.
Leanne Ross put City ahead from the penalty spot to give the hosts the lead at the break, however Cheryl McCulloch equalised twelve minutes after the interval to score against her old side. Kathleen McGovern fired the Hoops in front on 64 minutes, but City levelled the scoring through Sam Kerr only four minutes later. The goal of the match and the winner came from City and Scotland international Hayley Lauder as she fired a superb left foot strike into the bottom corner with ten minutes remaining.
Hibernian again ensured that the top two remain neck and neck with a 5-0 victory away to Stirling University. Abi Harrison hit a first half hat-trick to add to further goals from Amy Gallacher and Kirsten Reilly to set up what is likely to be a title decider between the top two on 21st October.
Rangers ended their run of five games without a win when they defeated Hamilton Academical 5-2. Carla Boyce was on target twice along with Jade Gallon, Amy Muir and Clare Gemmell, with Lori Gardner netting twice in reply.
Spartans have spent most of the season at the wrong end of the table but their fight for safety has been a successful one, preserving their status in style by beating Forfar Farmington 6-0. Becky Galbraith, Kaela McDonald-Nguah, Tara McGonigle, Elena Santoyo-Brown, Alana Marshall and Dion McMahon all scored a goal apiece for the Edinburgh side.
