Two of the early pacesetters came face to face on Sunday and the honours were shared as Brighouse Town and Chorley fought out a 2-2 draw.
Chorley twice took the lead during the course of the game through Chloe Wild and Grace Vella, with Brighouse hitting back on each occasion thanks to Charlotte Proud and Josephine Hewson. With Burnley FC Women in County Cup action, the result means that Brighouse replace them at the top of the table on goal difference, with Chorley two points behind in third place.
Newcastle Utd made the long trip to Merseyside to take on Liverpool Feds but it turned out to be a happy journey home for the Magpies as they recorded a 2-1 victory. Brooke Cochrane and Ellen Turnbull were on target for Newcastle, who have now gone fourth, whilst the Feds replied through Laura Bartup.
Leeds Utd meanwhile replaced Chester-le-Street Town in fifth place after winning their meeting 2-1 in the north east. Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke did give the Cestrians an early lead but Rebecca Hunt replied three minutes later and Hannah Campbell settled matters in Leeds' favour with ten minutes remaining.
Barnsley are out of the bottom three following a 3-2 victory away to Crewe Alexandra, who are still looking to get off the mark. Crewe led at half time through a Meg Booth goal, which was cancelled out five minutes after the restart by Melissa Woodhouse. Booth put Crewe back in front again, with Woodhouse once more equalising a minute later, and it was Barnsley who took the points eight minutes from time, when Amy Woodruff grabbed the winner.
