Tottenham Hotspur have opened up a lead of five points at the top of the Championship after coming from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1.
Improving Villa went ahead early on through Kerri Welsh, a lead they held until just before half time when Ashleigh Neville headed in the equaliser. Villa's resistance was broken with nine minutes remaining, Rianna Dean scoring the winner from the penalty spot to earn Spurs their sixth win in a row.
The match between Leicester City and second placed Manchester Utd was postponed as a mark of respect following the sad helicopter crash involving Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on Saturday night. The club called off all of its matches on Sunday and teams in the area followed suit, including the Leicestershire Senior Women's League which postponed all of its matches.
Charlton Athletic have pulled level on points with Manchester Utd after scoring eight times without reply past Millwall Lionesses. Elizabeta Ejupi spearheaded the win for the Addicks with a four-goal haul and there was one apiece from Lily Agg, Charlotte Gurr, April Bowers and Kit Graham.
Durham Women meanwhile maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a hard earned 1-0 success away to London Bees. The only goal of the game came on nineteen minutes, when Beth Hepple followed up to score after Zoe Ness' initial shot had been saved by Sarah Quantrill, but the Wildcats needed to defend stoutly to preserve their lead after being put under pressure by the home side for long periods of the match.
Crystal Palace and Sheffield Utd met each other with an opportunity for both teams to lift themselves up the table and it was the Blades who did so with a 1-0 victory. Both teams had chances to score but the only goal of the game came eleven minutes before half time, Jodie Michalska's through ball releasing Jade Pennock to slot home and hand Carla Ward's side their second win of the season.
