English County and other Leagues News - Penn & Tylers Green cup debut joy - 1 Nov 2018 - Women's Football NewsA League Cup first round match up between two clubs from the Thames Valley County League Division Two East saw an emphatic win for Penn & Tylers Green over hosts Camberley Town at Krooner Park.
A virtuoso five-goal first half haul from the visitors' Michelle Bailey put the tie beyond doubt against a depleted Camberley who never gave up and hit the woodwork twice themselves before the break.
The league table suggested the possibility of a close game but Penn & Tylers Green were quick out of the blocks, Bailey netting in the third minute and adding the second from a Megan Payne corner. Inbetween, Alisa Harvell had struck the bar for Camberley from fully 30 yards.
Bailey's eleven minute hat-trick was completed with a cool finish and her fourth came in similar fashion seven minutes later. Camberley regrouped and had a much better spell, Lucy Passfield going very close with a fine free kick and Harvell, having taken over the goalkeeping duties, saving well from Laura Gutteridge.
Camberley could curse their bad luck again when Beth Feinberg hit the frame of the goal from another long range free kick just after the half hour and the visitors extended their lead with the pick of Bailey's nap hand, a lovely first time lofted drive beyond Harvell when keeper Jess Smith's clearance was played through by Gutteridge. Just before the break, it was the visitors' turn to hit the post through Payne but the margin was five at the break.
With the first half star taking a rest, other Penn & Tylers Green players got in on the second half act. Harvell saved well twice to deny Rebecca Meller but, from the resulting corner, the same player found Payne who netted from close range on 53 minutes.
Camberley continued to work very hard, their ten players all contributing to keep the opponents at bay and create good forward movement at times. Their best chance came from a handball just outside the area but Smith saved well to deny them a deserved consolation.
A late seventh goal was another beauty with Paige Atkins, Emma Faraday and Roxanne Milward building play then Leah Martin letting fly from 25 yards low to the keeper's right. Penn & Tylers Green, newly formed this season, moved confidently into the second round draw whilst Camberley Town will look for progress in the Plate competition.
