Met oust holders Swansea
Women's Football Wales Premier League News - 23 Nov 2018

The Second Round of the FAW Women's Cup took centre stage on Sunday and the tie of the round saw holders Swansea City go out of the competition, beaten 2-1 by Cardiff Met Women.

All of the goals came in the opening fourteen minutes, Jodie Passmore giving Swansea an early lead but the Archers hit back for victory with strikes from Liv Thompson and Tija Richardson.

Met will be away in the quarter finals to Cyncoed Ladies, who defeated Barry Town Utd 7-2. Caitlin Bevan led the scoring for the Mighty Oaks with a four-goal haul, whilst Kirstie Pervin-Davies contributed a hat-trick.

Abergavenny Women progressed to the last eight with a narrow 1-0 success against Cascade Youth Club, Kate Jeremiah scoring the only goal of the game in the third minute. Aber face a long trip in the next round to Llandudno Ladies who defeated Aberystwyth Town 4-0. Fflur Williams netted a goal in each half for Llandudno and she was joined on the scoresheet by Kelsey Davies and Mari Gibbard.

Cardiff City Women ended the hopes of Port Talbot Town with a 3-1 victory. Lisa Owen gave the Bluebirds and after the break, Alana Murphy and Catherine Walsh sealed the win with further goals, before Courteney Thomas grabbed a late consolation for Port Talbot.

Cardiff will be at home again in the quarter finals, to Rhyl Ladies who came away from a tricky trip to Airbus UK Broughton with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of a goal apiece from Alaw Davies-Smith and Laura Williams.

Briton Ferry Llansawel marched into the quarter finals on the back of a 7-1 win against Splott Albion. Becca Rees led the scoring with a hat-trick, Lucy Powell weighed in with a double and also on target were Ela Roberts and Renee Day.

Although they have pulled out of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League, Caernarfon Town are still competing in the FAW Women's Cup and went through with a hard fought 2-1 win away to Llanfair Utd. Catrin Thomas and Jade Cooke scored the goals to set Caernarfon up with a trip in the last eight to Briton Ferry Llansawel.
