Jayne honoured at Wales Sports Awards

Wales International News - Jayne honoured at Wales Sports Awards - 7 Dec 2018 - Women's Football NewsWales Women's Head Coach Jayne Ludlow was awarded Coach of the Year at the annual Wales Sports Awards this week.
This award is testament to Jayne's achievements over the past year, leading the senior women's side to the brink of history and narrowly missing out on a place at the FIFA Womens World Cup Finals.
A hugely impressive qualifying campaign with significant wins against Kazakhstan, Russia and Bosnia & Herzegovina put Wales one game away from potentially reaching the finals. During the eight match campaign, the team's stellar defence also kept a clean sheet in seven matches.
The award ceremony took place at the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport, with Geraint Thomas awarded the main prize of BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year, being the first Welshman ever to win the Tour de France.
With preparations already underway for the UEFA Women's EURO 2021 qualifiers, the FAW are pleased to announce a series of matches for the side in the first half of 2019.
Wales will start the year with an away game against Italy and will be looking to avenge the 3-0 defeat against the Azzurri in last year's Cyprus Cup. Manager Jayne Ludlow has decided the side will not take part in this year's Cyprus Cup, instead opting for a warm weather training camp in Malaga involving a match against the Republic of Ireland.
"We've gone for a warm weather camp in February as I think it'll help our development better than a mini-tournament," she told faw.cymru.
"The opposition we're facing over the next few months are tough but beatable. it's a great chance to try different tactical options before going into the next campaign."
Ludlow's side will then return to Wales for their first home game since breaking the home attendance record against England in August at Rodney Parade, Newport. Wales will take on the Czech Republic in a double header in April, an opposition which Wales last met in a goalless draw at the 2017 Cyprus Cup.
Venue(s) for the home matches along with ticket information will be announced in due course.
