The weather claimed one of the scheduled FAW Women's Cup semi finals on Sunday but Cardiff Met Women were able to book their place in another major Final as they continued their pursuit of a trophy treble.
However, the Archers' passage was far from an easy one as they were pushed all the way by Briton Ferry Llansawel before emerging as 3-2 winners at the Leckwith Stadium.
Briton Ferry went ahead through Laura Braithwaite with twenty minutes on the clock but Met's reply was a swift one, Chloe Tiley bringing the scores level again just two minutes later. This remained the scoreline at the interval and Met were go to in front for the first time, early in the second half, with a goal from Madison Schlupbach. Naomi Clipston extended the Archers' lead ten minutes later but this time it was Briton Ferry's turn to reply quickly, Lucy Powell bringing them back into the game. They could not get back on level terms though and after having been crowned as WPWL Champions the previous Sunday, Cardiff Met have now added a FAW Women's Cup appearance as well their forthcoming Premier League Cup Final, both to be played next month.
The other semi final between Abergavenny Women and Cardiff City Women at Goytre was postponed and a new date will be announced in due course.
