Cardiff Met Ladies are just one match away from completing an unbeaten season in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League following their 2-0 victory against Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Met won by the odd goal in five when the teams met in the semi finals of the FAW Women's Cup two weeks ago and Briton Ferry gave a good account of themselves once again in their league clash. The first half was goalless but the Archers made the breakthrough nine minutes after half time, Ellie Walker-Smith scoring the opening goal. Madison Schupbach sealed the points with the second for the Champions, fifteen minutes from time.
Swansea City have the advantage in the chase for the runners-up spot after they won 5-0 away to Rhyl Ladies. A four-goal blast in eight minutes just before half time turned the match in the Swans' favour, Katy Hosford giving them the lead before Emma Beynon hit a five minutes hat-trick. Hosford scored her second goal with eleven minutes remaining to round off a result which takes Swansea back up into second place.
The other two scheduled league matches were postponed as Abergavenny Women were playing Cardiff City Women in their FAW Women's Cup semi final. The original tie had been cancelled to weeks earlier and it was Abergavenny who were 2-0 winners, thanks to a first half double from Kate Jeremiah. Abergavenny will face treble chasing Cardiff Met Women in the Final at Dragons Park, Newport on Sunday 14th April (2pm).
