Second half penalty frustrates Scotland
 Women's Football Scotland International News - 12 Apr 2019
Scotland 1 (Cuthbert 19)
Chile 1 (Araya 48)

Scotland drew with Chile in the first of their two matches in Spain, following 90 minutes where they were in control throughout but were unable to score the second they deserved.
Having dominated the first half they went in at the break 1-0 to the good but a Chile penalty at the start of the second half evened things up. In the second period, Scotland were again in the ascendancy but failed to hit the net despite creating numerous chances.
Shelley Kerr named a strong side for the first of two games in Pinatar, with Lisa Evans restored to the starting 11 for her first Scotland match of the year. Sitting in 39th place in the world rankings Chile came into the game off the back of two defeats to Scotland's opponents in May, at Hampden, Jamaica.
Following three impressive performances at the Algarve Cup against Canada, Iceland and Denmark, Scotland were clearly confident and started the game the stronger side. Erin Cuthbert was a constant threat up front and nearly converted following a clever pass from Caroline Weir.
Scotland deservedly took the lead on 19 minutes when a Kirsty Smith cross found Cuthbert in the box and the on form Chelsea striker was able to hammer home into the corner.
After 26 minutes, Rachel Corsie suffered a scare when she lost the ball in defence but Lee Alexander was there to make the save from Lara.
With 37 minutes gone, Kim Little broke from midfield and slipped in Lizzie Arnot who was denied by Endler in the Chile goal.
Erin Cuthbert nearly made it two before the break when she soared through the heart of their defence and attempted an audacious chip which was blocked. Lizzie Arnot also was close to doubling Scotland's lead but the Chilean goalkeeper was able to thwart her effort following a determined run down the left.
Chile started the second half well and blazed a shot over the bar before being awarded a penalty. Zamora ran through and was brought down by Alexander. Karen Araya stepped up and sent the Scotland goalkeeper the wrong way.
Scotland then were back in the ascendency and were denied once more by Endler after 62 minutes when she blocked a close range Lisa Evans header.
Scotland continued to probe and Erin Cuthbert was agonisingly close to giving Scotland the lead again but she saw a shot blaze inches over the bar with 15 minutes remaining.
Lisa Evans impressed on the right flank and she was close to assisting Kim Little but the Arsenal central midfielder failed to hit the target from out wide.
In the dying moments Erin Cuthbert had a chance to nab the winner at the death following a Zoe Ness flick on but she was denied by the goalkeeper.
