Swans defeat Champions in opener
Women's Football Wales Premier League News - 11 Sep 2019
The opening day of the league season produced a defeat for reigning Champions Cardiff Met Women, who went down 1-0 at the hands of Swansea City.
The Archers went unbeaten throughout the last campaign but a goal midway through the second half by Stacey John-Davis gave the Swans a superb start to the season.
Cardiff City Women are the opening day leaders after recording a good result of their own, winning 3-0 away to Abergavenny Women. Danielle Green opened the scoring for the Bluebirds shortly before half time and Siobhan Walsh made it two midway through the second half, before Alana Murs rounded off the scoring with five minutes remaining.
The first goal of the new season was scored by Beth McGowan, who gave Port Talbot Town the lead against Cyncoed Ladies after five minutes. This turned out to be the only goal of the game as Port Talbot claimed the three points.
Three of the four league games played on Sunday ended with 1-0 scorelines, with Llandudno Ladies returning from Briton Ferry Llansawel with a victory. This was given to them by a goal from Jordanne Greenough, scored five minutes before half time.
