The League Cup took centre stage in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League on the weekend, with the latest round of group matches being played.
Cardiff City Women made the long trip north to play Llandudno Ladies and returned with a 7-0 victory under their belts. Kate Jeremiah gave the Bluebirds an early lead which was doubled shortly before the break by Alana Murphy, who scored a second early after the restart. Two goals in a four minute spell just after the hour saw Jeremiah complete her hat-trick, with Jasmine Simpson making it six and Catherine Walsh rounding off the scoring in injury time.
Former winners Cyncoed Ladies meanwhile claimed their first win, a 3-1 success away to Briton Ferry Llansawel. Alison Witts gave the Mighty Oaks a seventh minute lead which was quickly cancelled out by Lowri Baker but the day was to belong to Witts, who added a further goal in each half to claim a hat-trick and see her side to the points.
There was a third League Cup tie taking place on Sunday but sadly this did not finish, a serious injury forcing the match between Aberystwyth Town and Cardiff Met Women to be abandoned with the Archers leading 1-0 at the time, Madison Schupbach having scored the goal.
