Winchester City Flyers v Bideford
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 22 Sep 2019

Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final

Bideford came from two goals behind at half time to win 5-2 against St Agnes in the last round. Beth Ellis hit a hat-trick, with Rohana Little and Poppy Cloak adding the others to set up a trip to Winchester City Flyers, who defeated Bournemouth Sports after extra time.

Winchester City Flyers was formed in 1996 and currently enables 450 girls and 90 Ladies the opportunity to play football in the Hampshire area. The Ladies' first team is established in the Southern Region Women's Football League. The First Round Qualifying is the furthest the team has achieved since entering the FA Cup four seasons ago. Charlotte Warhurst, the captain, has been with the club since the age of ten and has acted as both a skipper on and off the pitch.

All four of the management team have been involved in Youth/Men's and Women's football for a number of years. The managers, Steve Butterworth MBE and Haydn Phillips, are both Level 2 coaches and Haydn was unlucky not to have been selected for his UEFA B Licence course this season. The assistant manager is Tony Pantelis, with Mark Snelling as Goalkeeper Coach. Several of the girls have played for Hampshire and Reading in the past and we have many who have progressed through the youth setup to the Ladies reserves and first team.

With Allan Higgs as Chairman, the club has worked hard to have an ethos of ‘One Team One Dream' across the ladies teams and it has been a pleasure, to both manage and coach the team's pre-season and work with reserves and development team in unison.
