 Women's Football English County and other Leagues News - 4 Oct 2019
The second round of group matches in the Reserve League Cup took place, although some were affected by the weather over the weekend. This included Group A, where Hull City won 3-2 away to Leeds Utd in the only match to go ahead. Helen Lynskey, Harley Skinner and Jennifer Randall netted the goals for Hull, with Leeds' replies coming from Stacey Buxton and Megan Smith.
In Group B, Blackburn Rovers made it two wins out of two when beating Burnley FC Women 6-1. Megan Dykes and Carra Jones netted two goals apiece whilst Katie Holt and Kira Boswell were also on target, with Natalie Bell replying. Liverpool Feds are also on maximum points after their 2-1 victory over Chorley, given to them by goals from Courtney Jevons and Kenzie Guido.
One match was played in Group C, Emily Atkinson and Brooke Osborne each scoring twice along with Toni McHamilton as Lincoln City won 5-3 to pick up their first points at Sheffield FC, who netted through an Amy-Leigh Barringham-Beck double and Adele Hill.
Derby County meanwhile made it six points from two games in Group D when running out 7-2 winners away to Loughborough Foxes. Amber-Leigh Denny hit a hat-trick for the Ewe Rams, Kira Rai weighed in with a brace and there was one apiece from Naomi Lawrence and Danielle Oxley. Sarah Brown and Tiana Hicks were on target for Loughborough.
Milton Keynes Dons are the leaders of Group E after scoring seven times without reply past Cardiff City Ladies. Amy McLean bagged a brace and she was joined on the scoresheet by Fran Gough, Anya Kinnane, Charlotte Murphy and Amber Tullett along with an own goal. Millie Rogers and Millie Webb netted the goals as West Bromwich Albion defeated Sporting Khalsa 2-1 to join them on six points and Coventry Utd were 3-2 winners away to Bedworth Utd thanks to Zoe Creaney, Chloe Murphy and Jasmine Sherrell.
Charlton Athletic U21 are leading the way in Group F, Shamoy Campbell and Melanie Parreno Espinosa each hitting hat-tricks and Olivia Hembrough adding the other as they beat Norwich City 7-1. Gillingham got themselves off the mark by winning 4-1 against Cambridge Utd, Amy Haynes netting twice along with Gemma Cumby and Esmee Sword.
Amy Jacobs (2) and Sophie Spencer-Webb scored the goals as AFC Basildon won 3-1 against Chichester City to go top of Group G. They are joined on six points by Lewes, who defeated Billericay Town 5-3 thanks to a Chloe Winchester hat-trick and double from Jonea Peter.
Watford opened up their fixtures in Group H with a crushing 13-1 victory over Crawley Wasps. Katie O'Leary led the scoring with a five-goal haul, Petra Kos and Chiara Meola contributed a hat-trick and brace respectively and the total was completed by Jennifer Hughes and Holly Greenwood plus an own goal.
