Chesham United v Southampton FC Women
 Women's Football FA Women's Cup News - 10 Nov 2019

The Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final

Southampton FC eased through with an 11-0 victory over Poole Town in which Rachel Panting and Shannon Sievwright each scored hat-tricks and they were joined on the scoresheet by Sophia Pharoah, Shannon Albuery, Alisha Ware, Phoebe Williams and Charley Evans. The Saints are now away to Chesham United, who reached this stage by beating Wycombe Wanderers 3-0, Gemma Fraser netting twice and Tash Smith adding the other.

Chesham United Ladies were formed in 1995 with Sian Williams and Lisa Welling taking over in 1996. The squad's relaxed, drama free atmosphere attracted players and they climbed through the Women's pyramid to promotion in to the FA Women's Premier League in 2012. The FA Women's Super League and some well overdue retirements took its toll on their squad numbers and the club decided to take a step back to the Southern Region League. A strong girls section below them, they work hard at bringing youngsters through to the first team. The current squad regrouped three seasons ago as predominantly over-30's and Under-18's, a mix that complimented each other and this season have gained promotion back to the Southern Region Premier League with another very enjoyable season.

The club has enjoyed many successes over the years, with a flourishing girls section, half the squad have played junior football for them, they pride ourselves on fair play and a strong playing philosophy. Chesham were promoted as Southern Premier League winners in thte 2017-18 season unbeaten, and completed the double by beating AFC Bournemouth in the League Cup Final. Last season was the first in the FA Women's National League and i was a good one, finishing mid-table and getting to the County Cup Final only to lose narrowly to MK Dons.

The squad is boasting some new players and a new Head Coach in Sam Arhin, assisting manager Lisa Welling look to propel into their second season in the league looking to better last years mid table finish and also to gain some silverware. Mark Overall is Goalkeeping Coach and long serving Dawne Campbell is captain, whilst Gemma Fraser is one of the most prolific goalscorers at her level.
