It was a good day for the top four teams in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League table, as all four recorded victories to open up a gap on the teams below them.
These teams are still led by Swansea City, who were 3-0 winners against Abergavenny Women. The two teams had met seven days previously in the League Cup with Swansea winning 2-1 on that occasion and they took the lead through Lauren Smith on the stroke of half time. Smith netted her second with fifteen minutes remaining and Chloe Chivers netted the final goal shortly afterwards.
Cardiff City Women stay three points behind Swansea in second place after they came from behind to beat Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-1. Lowri Ridings gave Briton Ferry the lead in the opening minute of the match but City hit back to level the scores through Alana Murphy just after the half hour, and Murphy netted her second shortly after half time with what proved to be the winning goal.
Cardiff Met Women meanwhile enjoyed a much more convincing victory, scoring no less than seventeen times against mid-table Llandudno Ladies. Robyn Pinder led the spree with a seven-goal haul and Madison Schupbach was on target four times, Amy Long and Sophie Hancocks both hit doubles and the tally was completed by Erin Murray and Jodie Passmore.
Port Talbot Town rounded off the day for the quartet at the top when they defeated Aberystwyth Town 4-0. Laura May Walkley netted a first half double, either side of a goal from Jessie Taylor, with Carys Davies scoring the fourth midway through the second half.
