Met march into semis
Women's Football Wales Premier League News - 7 Dec 2019
Holders Cardiff Met Women are one of three teams who are through to the semi finals of the League Cup, booking their passage from their group with a 3-0 victory over Port Talbot Town on Sunday.
In a flying start to the match, the Archers scored all three goals inside the opening eighteen minutes, Madison Schupbach giving them a lead which was quickly doubled by Robyn Pinder, before Schupbach netted her second.
The other team from the group due to join them is yet to be decided, with either Port Talbot or Cyncoed Ladies set to go through. Cyncoed were held to a 2-2 draw by Aberystwyth Town and their fate was set to be decided on Thursday night as they took on Cardiff Met. Aberystwyth took the lead just before half time through Kelly Thomas but the Mighty Oaks fought back to turn things around early in the second half with goals from Athina Varnava and Alison Witts. An own goal by Caitlin Williams brought the scores level again and both sides had to settle for a point apiece.
Carditf City FC are in the last four after they defeated Abergavenny Women 5-1, joining Swansea City as quaifiers from their group. Kate Jeremiah gave Cardiff a fourteenth minute lead against her former club but an Amelia Forkings own goal brought Abergavenny level on the stroke of half time. Danielle Broadhurst put City back in front after the break and a quickfire double by Catherine Walsh gave them a firm grip on the game before Jeremiah rounded off the scoring with the final goal.
