 Women's Football English County and other Leagues News - 8 Feb 2020
The two Reserve League Cup semi finals yielded a total of fourteen goals and Mia Lockett was the heroine for Crystal Palace as they won 5-3 away to Milton Keynes Dons. Elisabeth Heyndrickx and Ronnell Homes added Palace's other goals, whilst MK's markswomen were Mollie Coupar (2) and Amy McLean. Nottingham Forest will play Palace in the Final after getting the better of Huddersfield Town on a penalty shootout, after the teams had shared a 3-3 draw. Claire Goater, Charlotte Steggles and Annabel McKechnie scored the goals for Forest, whilst Huddersfield replied through Macy Ellis, Alice Linsell and Leoni Price before Forest triumphed 5-4 from the spot.
The Final of the Reserve League Plate will be an all-Midlands affair after goals from Rhea Bailey, Zoe Creaney and Ellie White saw Coventry Utd win 3-1 away to Loughborough Foxes whose consolation was scored by Emily Gunn. Their opponents will be Wolverhampton Wanderers, for whom Nyah Edwards and Katie Johnson were on target in their 2-1 victory over Southampton FC, who replied through Sophie Lee.
One match was played in North Division One, Middlesbrough running out 6-1 winners away to Bradford City. Emily Marsh hit a hat-trick for 'Boro along with Eve Gatens, Hannah Robson and Megan Shaw, with Zahraa Khan replying.
In North Division Two, Liverpool Feds were unable to take an opportunity to go top of the table when they were beaten 5-3 by Sheffield FC. Paige Wainwright was on target twice, along with Caitlan Ross-Robinson, Leah Hardy and Adele Hill, as Sheffield went level on points with the Feds. Niamh Ashley, Lauryn Wilcock, Betty Cheetham, Madison Foye and Rebecca Fevers all scored a goal apiece for Barnsley in their 5-2 win at Burnley FC Women, whilst Stockport County defeated Hull City 3-0 thanks to Lois Greenwood, Jasmin Limb and Emma Massey.
Derby County have opened up a three point lead in the congested Midland Division One table, following their 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Taviah Myles, Ella Ritchie and Rosie Hunt were all on target for Derby, with Jade Arber replying.
Sporting Khalsa are continuing to stretch the pace in Midland Division Two after they won 4-0 against Cardiff City Ladies with braces from Jessica Bate and Molly Thompson. They lead by three points from Crewe Alexandra, who went second with a 3-2 success away to Lincoln City in which Sophie Corden, Kiera Willdigg and Rebecca Garner were on target. Kaneshia Barker and Zara Kirk were on the scoresheet as Bedworth Utd won for the first time, 2-0 against The New Saints.
One match was played in the South East Division, Tottenham Hotspur scoring five without reply past Norwich City to go up to third place. Brionne Fowle led the scoring with a hat-trick and there was one apiece from Amy Martin and Elisha Soula.
