Hamilton Academical just missed out on promotion from SWPL 2 last year and have started well this time around, running out 5-0 winners over Stirling University.
Dionne Brown and Ellie Kane ensured that the Accies were two ahead at half time, before they added further goals after the break through Amy Anderson, Lauren Evans and Marie Gardiner.
Dundee Utd meanwhile won an astonishing match, 8-4 against newly promoted Boroughmuir Thistle. Danni McGinley had a great day for the Tangerines as she scored five times in all, along with Robyn Smith, Isabella Rosalina and Tammy-Lee Harkin whilst Boroughmuir replied through Helen Templeton, Ashley Carse, Brogan Anderson and Beth MacLeod.
Queen's Park made their return to the league and it ended in a 4-2 defeat at the hands of St Johnstone. Ellie Cowie netted a first half double for the Saints whilst Nicole Carter and Rachel Todd also got on target, whilst Jayne Cameron and Ashley McKeown also netted for the Spiders.
Partick Thistle got off to a winning start, beating Glasgow Women 2-0. Both goals came during the first half, Clare Docherty giving the Jags a third minute lead and Suzanne Mulvey netting the second.
Aberdeen FC Women's first match back in the SWPL ended with honours even as they shared a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock. Chloe Ponton broke the deadlock in Killie's favour with seven minutes remaining, but the Dons fought back to earn themselves a point thanks to an equaliser from Eilidh Shore.
