With Fylde Women's match away to Stoke City being postponed, Huddersfield Town took the opportunity to replace them as leaders with a 3-2 victory against West Bromwich Albion.
Brittany Sanderson netted two of the goals for Town and Laura Elford was also on target, with Albion's replies coming from Keeley Davies and Leigh Dugmore.
Meanwhile, Derby County lifted themselves up into third place on the back of a 3-1 win over Burnley FC Women. Katie Thomas gave the Clarets the lead on the quarter hour but Derby hit back strongly, Callan Barber ensuring the scores were level before half time and second half strikes from Jodie Michalska and Sophie Domingo sealing the points.
Sunderland have moved into the top half of the table after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0. Keira Ramshaw settled matters with the only goal of the game, just before the hour mark.
Middlesbrough picked up their second league victory of the season, 2-1 away to Loughborough Foxes who are still searching for their first win. Tyler Dodds and Anna Young were the scorers for 'Boro, whilst the Foxes' consolation came from Rebecca McGrother.
