An injury time equaliser earned Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic in the FA Women's Championship match played on Thursday night.
The South London derby at Hayes Lane was newly appointed Charlton manager Karen Hills' first match in charge and the Addicks got off to a great start as they took an eighteenth minute lead, thanks to a header from Lois Heuchan.
Ella Rutherford almost made it two with a long range effort which came back off the bar but Palace grew stronger in the second half as they tried to break down the Charlton rearguard.
It seemed as though Charlton would hold on for a win which would reduce the gap between the two teams to two points but deep into injury time, a ball into the area was diverted into her own net by the unfortunate Shauna Vassell, to give Palace a point which takes them above Blackburn Rovers and into seventh place in the table.
