On Wednesday evening, the Vitality Women's FA Cup got underway once again with the last remaining First Round tie taking place.
Kent Football Utd took on Enfield Town in an all-FAWNL Division One South East tie and although spectators were not permitted, the match was streamed online with a total of 834 views.
Although Enfield started the game brightly at the Efes Stadium, it was Kent who took a first half lead through a fine finish from Charlie Goad following a run from the halfway line. Kent took their advantage going into the break but just before the hour, Enfield were back on level terms as Beau Parker's shot hit the bar and Amy Makewell scored from the rebound.
The game remained tightly contested and neither side could conjure up a winner before the ninety minutes were up. Extra time was probably the last thing either team wanted having not played for almost four months, and they could still not be separated during the extra half hour, and it was Kent who triumphed 4-3 from the resulting penalty shootout.
Both teams deserve great credit for producing a fine game having not played for so long. Kent, who have reached the Second Round for the first time, will now be away to Chichester & Selsey this Sunday.
