SWPL 2 leaders Aberdeen went down to only their second defeat of the season, beaten 2-1 by Hamilton Academical.
Marie Gardiner put the Accies ahead in the fourteenth minute and Kathleen McGovern netted a decisive second midway through the second half, despite Jessica Broadrick pulling one back for the Dons with ten minutes remaining.
Aberdeen still have a game in hand on the three teams immediately below them but have seen their lead trimmed to three points by second placed Dundee Utd who defeated St Johnstone 2-0. Jade McLaren gave them a first half lead, with Rebecca McMillan netting a second just before the hour mark to keep United's title push going.
Hamilton are a further two points adrift in third place following their win over Aberdeen, level with Partick Thistle who stepped up their own challenge by scoring six times without reply past Stirling University. Thistle inflicted most of the damage in the first half, Sophie Gallacher and Amy Bulloch each bagging doubles after Cheryl McCulloch had given them a twelfth minute lead. Cara McBrearty rounded off the scoring with the final goal, three minutes from time.
Glasgow Women hold on to sixth place in the table after their trip to Boroughmuir Thistle finished in a 1-1 draw. Glasgow went in front after seventeen minutes via a Jade Wilson penalty, holding onto the lead until six minutes left, when Fiona Gibson grabbed an equaliser for Boroughmuir.
Kilmarnock meanwhile notched up their fifth win of the season, 3-0 against Queen's Park. Kirsty O'Brien opened the scoring during the first half and after the break, Killie sealed the points with further goals from Lauryn Reside and Laura Neil.
