Brazil 3 (Marta 22,48, Rosana 46) Norway 0 att: 26,067; at Arena Im Allerpark, Wolfsburg Brazil went through to the quarter finals with a 3-0 win over Norway who now have a second place decider against Australia. The first chance of the game went to Norway when Madeleine Giske found space in the area but her shot flew straight at Andreia. The match burst into life midway through the first half when a long ball from Erika was chased down by Marta who drew a defender before beating Ingrid Hjelmseth at her near post. Rosana went close to adding a second ahead of the break with a powerful strike which was turned over the bar by Hjelmseth. Brazil did go two ahead though within a minute of the restart. Marta was again involved, breaking down the right before setting up the oncoming Rosana to score her second goal in as many matches. Two minutes later, Norway lost the ball just outside their penalty area and, after Cristiane's shot was blocked, Marta was on hand to slide home the rebound. Norway did not give up and sought a way back into the game, winning a number of corners. At the other end, Marta was at her most dangerous on the break and a surging run nearly led to her third as she cut in from the right before her shot was saved, although she had elected to shoot instead of creating a simple chance for Cristiane. Giske went close to pulling a goal back for Norway but her flick, from a Cecilie Pedersen header, landed on the roof of the net. Elise Thorsnes also went close but there was no consolation for Norway and Brazil are starting to gain momentum.
